What Uluwatu is like
Pecatu, Bingin, Padang-Padang and Balangan are surf villas built into the cliff, often down an unsealed lane with a hard turn at the bottom that a van cannot always make. Many are rentals or manager-run properties, and the owners travel for weeks at a time leaving the dogs with villa staff. Neighbours are far apart and there is no through traffic, so a wrong turn costs twenty minutes.
What we usually see on coats here
The dogs here split between surf-house Bali dogs living mostly outdoors and larger breeds kept behind a wall on the cliff. Sea salt, red cliff dust and constant wind add up to a coat that feels dry and coarse, with flaking skin along the back. Because owners are away so often, we regularly arrive to a dog whose coat has gone a cycle or two too long, so the first groom is heavier work than the ones after it.
What it costs
Same price list everywhere in Bali. Pickup within 5 km of the salon is free; beyond that we agree the fee before we set off.

Questions from Uluwatu
The lane to my villa in Bingin is too narrow for a car. How does pickup work?
Send us a pin and tell us the last point a car can reach, usually the top of the lane or a warung on the main road. We meet you there and take the dog on a lead, or the driver walks down if it is a short way. Sorting this out before the day is the difference between a pickup on time and a driver stuck reversing up a slope.
I am travelling and my villa staff will hand the dog over. Is that fine?
Yes, that is normal in Uluwatu. Give us the name and number of whoever will be at the villa and tell them roughly when to expect us. Anything we need to know about the dog should come from you, not from staff: bites, fear of the dryer, skin conditions, medication. We message photos when the groom is done and settle payment with you by transfer.
