What Tabanan is like
Tabanan is rice-field country, with villas and family homes scattered between the paddies from Kediri through Tanah Lot and out to Kerambitan and Selemadeg. Plots are large, gates sit well back from the road, and the next house can be a kilometre away. Households are a mix of Indonesian families and foreigners who wanted land rather than a Canggu street.
What we usually see on coats here
Dogs here live outdoors and work the property: anjing kampung, guard dogs and farm mixes that spend the day in the fields and come home with burrs, mud and ticks in the ears and between the toes. Cats are usually semi-outdoor kucing kampung picking up fleas from the barn or the ditch. In the wet season the mud is the real issue, because it dries into the belly and leg fur and sets hard, which is why flea treatment together with a haircut is the common booking out here.

Same price list everywhere in Bali. Pickup within 5 km of the salon is free; beyond that we agree the fee before we set off.

I am out past Kerambitan. Do you actually come this far?
Yes. Kediri, the Tanah Lot side, Kerambitan and Selemadeg are all on our route, but not every day. We group Tabanan pickups onto set days so the drive makes sense, so give us a few days notice and we will tell you when the next run is. Send a map pin, because village names alone are not enough out there.
My dogs are outside all day and covered in ticks through the wet season. What should I book?
Grooming + Flea Treatment, and if the leg and belly fur has already matted with dried mud, Flea + Hair Cut. Clipping packed fur off is faster and far less painful than combing it, and it lets us actually see the skin to find ticks in the ears and between the toes. Keep it on a regular cycle through the wet months rather than waiting until it is bad, because a farm dog picks up new ones every day.
